Luckily for us, the team at Cometeer had a different coffee experience in mind.īorn in 2015, it took Cometeer six years to optimize their product. The cost and time required to prepare that perfect cup leads most people to settle for sub-par instant coffee, or to run to their nearest coffee shop. You need to buy expensive equipment, source high-quality beans, grind them. You'll never risk a truly awful cup unless you never learned how to use that French press of yours.Making good coffee is no joke. It’s not exciting, but it’s not disappointing either. Plus, you’ll always know what you’re getting. If you go by the dollar, of course it’s cheaper to brew a cup at home. Is it really such a monumental waste of money to buy coffee instead of making it at home? It’s a common point of contention in the personal finance community - but also in the world at large. In those moments - taking a sip of bitter, bad bean juice and worrying that someone might know if we slyly spit it back into the offending cup - I start to wonder if the “make your coffee at home” brigade is right. Pour one out for the cups we left unfinished due to sheer revulsion. We’ve all been there - free hotel coffee, questionable diner coffee, disappointing overpriced coffee shop coffee. Here are my recs:Ĭoffee can come in many forms. If you’re looking to visit this special city and get the authentic Philly experience Quinta Brunson-style…look no further. The show has everything Philly adores: a chippy personality, the word “jawn” (which refers to a person, place, or thing), plus references to their beloved Eagles, and the Philadelphia Flyers’ scary but lovable mascot, Gritty. But how about we get some love for the city known for its ooey-gooey cheesesteaks and insane sports fans? Abbott Elementary is set in the heart of Philadelphia, not far from Lincoln Financial Field where the Philadelphia Eagles play. Sure, New York City is awesome and everything takes place there. I love a show or movie centered around the City of Brotherly Love because Philly never gets enough credit. Both play teachers in Abbott who deal with disaster after disaster in this neglected school - and it’s hysterical. There are familiar faces like Tyler James Williams, who played the title character in Everybody Hates Chris, and Lisa Ann Walter, who we know as Chessy in The Parent Trap. But Brunson’s character, Janine Teagues, is determined to turn the place around. The premise? It follows a group of teachers at Abbott Elementary, which is not the nicest school…or the most funded…or the most staffed. Like many good shows, it follows an Office-style format, where the actors are shooting documentary-style and directly addressing the camera one-on-one. However, the show’s cult fanbase and multiple Emmys tell me otherwise. ![]() Maybe just because I no longer live in the Philadelphia area, I’m missing home and resonating with the show. Abbott Elementary is only one episode into its second season and it’s already up there with Ted Lasso for me. ![]()
